Welcome to the Tasmanian Dictionary of Biography

This website has a grand ambition, to be a useful source of Tasmanian Biography. This doesn't mean we're going to host every biography of a Tasmanian, that wouldn't be possible, but we do hope to link to biographies where they already exist (see the Resources section), and to add others to fill some of the gaps where we find them (see the Biographies section). It needs to be said at the outset that we are not affiliated with the Australian Dictionary of Biography, but we do seek to fill a similar role particular to Tasmania.
